Neat Eats | Alfredo’s Pizzeria

Tucked just behind it’s big brother Alfred & Constance and happily succumbing to any sibling rivalry is Alfredo’s Pizzeria, one of the latest additions to the growing Fortitude Valley foodie family. From the outset, nothing but a white-washed brick wall and a bright yellow neon sign will point you in the right direction but trust me.. don’t let the outside fool you into thinking this is just your ordinary pizza store.

With decked out red Vespas lining the sidewalk ready to deliver a whole lot of Italian goodness to the people of Brisbane, you can order pizza and drinks right to your door up until midnight. Or you can dine in. Genius. Post Euro trip and early 21st celebrations called for some well overdue foodie fun with one of my dearest friends. For a weeknight, this little Italian hub got busy fast and we soon learnt why.

Woodfired pizzas named after rock ‘n’ roll icons emerge in a constant stream from a large purpose-built oven at the heart of the open kitchen, with each flavour able to be ordered by the slice. With mouth-watering aromas of garlic, rosemary and fresh bread lingering, the dough is tossed right before your eyes. All that with a dash of low lighting (pardon my slightly dark photo!) and chill Triple J tunes made for a fantastic atmosphere. After salivating over the menu we eventually decided to share a number of dishes, the Italian way of course. We started with the watermelon salad, a delightfully refreshing combination of mint, mozzarella, watermelon, basil, tomato and vincotto (AMAZING!) and the wood-baked field mushrooms with grilled feta, lemon zest and thyme (DOUBLE THE AMAZING!) After these two beauties we knew we had found a real gem. In the pizza department we opted for the ‘Ziggy Stardust’ which contained all of my favourite things, roasted pumpkin, balsamic onions, crispy sage, feta and basil pesto. This was just plain lip-smacking YUM! But one pizza is just not enough with a menu like Alfredo’s. We also tried the Pork Sugar Magic a genius combination of roast pork, honey roasted pear, caramelized onion and provolone cheese. Are you salivating yet?

I simply cannot wait to go back and eat my way through the amazing menu that Alfredo’s offers. It’s that good. With an uber cool atmosphere, a stellar line up of drinks and a menu to match, the crew at A&C seriously know how to get the party started in the ‘burbs.

Stay hungry,

S.
