Happy National Donut Day!

In celebration of National Donut Day (and me finishing an insane assignment!) I thought I would share some donut-inspired projects thanks to the ever lovely Studio DIY. While they might not be edible they are just as sweet! Why not give them a try this weekend or if eating is more your thang, grab a delectable doughy hole of goodness and just enjoy.

1. Hole-y Hat! Sunhats are back and fashion and I must admit, they are pretty sweet. Grab yourself a straw hat ( of the floppy variety!) some fabric-safe craft paint in a a light frosting color and a few sprinkle colors along with some study paint brushes. Paint the rim of your hat using your frosting color, leaving a small border around the edge and let dry. Freehand paint your sprinkles all over the hat. Start with one color, placing it in various spots around the donut and then move to the next, so on and so on. Let dry. Done!

2. Sweet Sunglasses!

What better way to show your love for donuts then right smack bang in the middle of your face? For this little project you will need round a pair or two ( let’s face it all your friends will want some!) of sunglasses with a wide rim ( Studio DIY found these and they are PERFECT!) as well as nail polish in various donut + sprinkle colors as well as some toothpicks (optional). To make paint the entire rim of your sunglasses with your donut colour. You may need to do two coats (drying in between), especially if you’re covering up a black rim like these. Next, use your frosting color to paint on some frosting! Again, two coats might be necessary depending on your polish and color! Let dry. Then carefully paint on some sprinkles. For some polishes, it may be easier to dip a toothpick in the polish and use that to make the sprinkles! Let dry.

Researching this has got me extremely crafty and hungry at that! They look so good you could eat them right up, thanks Studio DIY!

Stay hungry,
