Neat Eats | Riverbar & Kitchen

riverbar

Situated right on the Brisbane River, aptly named Riverbar & Kitchen is a one-of-a-kind waterfront dining destination. With spectacular views of the Story Bridge, utterly delectable food and an extensive array of drinks, this Brissy favourite owned by Chef Matt Moran is perfect for breakfast meetings right through to afternoon drinks and dinner. Large wooden share tables adorn the space with vibrant yellow umbrellas offering plenty of outdoor seating. It’s just the place you’d want to be to enjoy breakfast. There’s also a heap of tables inside so don’t worry about this spot not taking bookings, just come on down, pull up a seat and sit by the water to dream the day away.

Having heard through the Insta grapevine that Riverbar had just launched a new breakfast menu (cue excited foodie fangirl!) myself and my best foodie friend, K-Pow had to try it out. It was a bittersweet brunch knowing that this would be our last for a very long while but that didn’t stop us lapping up a gorgeous Monday morning in the sunshine and doing what we do best, eating! Being the avo addicts that we are (no regrets!) we devoured the avocado on toast that was a generous portion of fantastic rye bread adorned with creamy feta, lime and sprinkled with earthy dukkah. Yum, yum, YUM! Probably the best rye bread I have ever had and the avo was just brilliant. To mix it up a bit, I added a side of bacon and holy wow, it was obviously free-range and perfectly smokey. The poached eggs here are also on point, all I can say is #datyolk. For something sweet, there’s also house baked pastries and scones, muesli, pancakes with banana and salted caramel sauce, smoked salmon bruschetta with dill and cucumber or mini bacon and egg sliders with Gruyere cheese and chilli jam. A share menu for $19pp is also available (genius!) featuring a wealth of deliciousness. Are you drooling yet? This is simple food, using exquisite ingredients and executed beautifully. And that’s just breakfast! In terms of drinks, there’s all the usual suspects including fresh juices plus breakfast cocktail jugs for something a little bit fancy! You can have a Bloody Mary, Mimosa or one of my faves, Pimms. Sunday’s just looked a whole lot sweeter right?!

So do yourself a favour and get down to enjoy brunch at Riverbar & Kitchen, if the views don’t get you there the avo certainly will!

Stay hungry,

S.
