Café Exploring | Suburban

There is no denying South Brisbane is pumping out some real foodie gems as of late. With this boom some oldies and goodies are being revamped into havens just waiting to be explored and loved all over again. Take Suburban for example. Nestled in on Melbourne Street in South Brisbane, this little spot has changed a lot in the past 12 months and now boasts some pretty fantastic breakfast and lunch fare that you have to add to your ‘to try’ list ( I’m not the only one with a list like this right?!) Why? I think you should read on to find out!

With a  focus on fresh, seasonal fare, Suburban ensures quality through authentic and honest cooking. As much as possible is made within the store, from fresh orange juice to the various dishes dispersed over the all day breakfast and lunch menu. Salivate over an incredible selection of raw salads, pulled pork omelettes, avocado stacks, house smoked salmon dishes and deliciously filled burgers. The priority remains for clean, whole food products free from processing and additives. As a result, the end product served to you is fresh, wholesome and of an extremely high quality – all for a very reasonable price!

Seating at Suburban is abundant with some lovely wooden tables inside whilst black metal stools and chairs adorn the pathway for alfresco dining. Super sweet hessian bags of rosemary also hold table numbers, making for a super cute foodie touch (and neat Insty photo prop too!) After perusing the menu, we opted for a new dishes ( one of which we spyed getting delivered to another table and hooked us instantly!) the eggs benedict with haloumi and potato hash, the zucchini and corn fritters and the smashed pumpkin. So much deliciousness. The fritters were lavishly layered with avocado and drizzled with beet relish, yoghurt and rocket whilst the pumpkin smash was stellar. Amazing sourdough and the pumpkin was seasoned to perfection. I loved the addition of good quality EVOO and walnuts too. But that eggs benny! Wow. I managed to pry a bite from my brunching partner and it was amazing. With a choice of bacon pulled pork or haloumi, how can you go wrong?! That potato hash on it’s own was to-die-for. I would even order 10x of those! Service was awsome and all dishes were presented beautifully, we really were in a little slice of foodie heaven in South Brisvegas. In the drinks department, our cappuccino and flat white on an organic blend were rather delicious and we could have quite comfortably had another if we weren’t nursing food babies! Another time.

So if you are looking for something a little bit different the next time you are in South Brisbane , stop by Suburban and see what all the fuss is about! I’m sure you’ll love it too.

Stay hungry,
